Diagnostic Imaging
Southern Orthopaedic Specialists, LLC provides sophisticated diagnostic imaging services through the use of two Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, units. Approved by the FDA in 1984, MRI is the most sensitive noninvasive imaging method for a broad spectrum of diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system. MRI’s advantage over other imaging techniques is due primarily to the increased contrast resolution of body tissues and disease processes.
In the practice of Orthopaedics, MRI plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries and the entire musculoskeletal system. This modality can provide exquisite contrast detail between different tissues with very similar densities. Thus, MRI is the Gold Standard for testing of the musculoskeletal system including joints such as the shoulder, knee, wrist, ankle and foot.
MRI uses powerful magnets so a thorough screening process is critical to our patients’ safety and the safety and effectiveness of the exam. Be prepared to answer a series of questions designed to determine if there may be any metal in your body that might be considered a risk factor for an MRI procedure.
The MRI units of Southern Orthopaedic Specialists, LLC are conveniently located to service our patients in the two growing markets of south Atlanta and north Atlanta at the following addresses:
5955 State Bridge Road, Suite 200

915 Eagles Landing Parkway

The MRI Technologist at each site is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with additional clinical experience in MRI scanning. Experienced and knowledgeable, both technologists meet and exceed the minimum qualifications recommended by the American College of Radiology.
